Dr. Rosemary Swanson studied at the University of the Witwatersrand where she received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Medicine. She then received her doctoral degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, performing research on the experimental chemotherapy of tuberculosis (TB) at the KwaZulu-Natal Research Institute for TB and HIV (K-RITH) with her mentor, Prof. Jacques Grosset. She joined the Jacobs lab at the Albert Einstein college of Medicine studying recombinant vaccines for use against TB. She joined the Khader lab in 2019, and her research will include the development of adjunctive host-directed therapies for TB, and elucidating the immunological roles of cell populations during TB infection.
