Dr. Shail Mehta, MD received his MD from the University of Pittsburgh, and completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Michigan.  He then worked for the US Public Health Service on the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, New Mexico, before completing a pulmonary-critical care fellowship at Washington University.  He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Washington University with a focus on nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease.  His work in the Khader Lab has focused on the infection of the human airway epithelium by NTMs, as well as the development of diagnostic assays for human NTM infection.
